Den Sociale Kapitalfond Invest new co-owner of Koatek A/S

20. February 2019

Den Sociale Kapitalfond Invest has bought 45 percent of the shares in Koatek A/S and now owns the company together with the original owner Bo Olsen, senior employees and the new chairman of the board. The new ownership group will strengthen the company's positive development, expand its social responsibility, and ensure a successful generational change.

After 50 years in the family’s ownership, the industrial company Koatek A/S in Jægerspris has a new group of owners. Koatek supplies custom-made, precise components of metal and plastic to Danish and international companies and has approximately 75 employees. The previous main owner Bo Olsen, who took over the company from his father in 1994, has sold 45% of the shares to Den Sociale Kapitalfond Invest. Bo Olsen retains part of his ownership and remains co-owner, as will Production Director Thomas Nielsen-Gotsæd. In addition, a new Chairman of the Board Hans Lohmann joins the circle of owners.

Sales to strengthen and future-proof

With the sale, Bo Olsen wants to carry out a generational change that can strengthen and future-proof Koatek and the values that the family has run the company by:

“Koatek is in an exciting and positive development, which I would like to strengthen. Den Sociale Kapitalfond Invest and the new board of directors can contribute to this. We have had a good and efficient process together, and they have created a good model where I can also be part of the next part of the journey. They are professional people who can ensure the continued development of the company together with our skilled employees and management,” says Bo Olsen.

He adds: “At the same time, it means a lot to me that Den Sociale Kapitalfond Invest stands for the same way of doing business as we have always practiced, where we are in close dialogue with our customers, take responsibility in our local communities and take good care of our employees.”

Den Sociale Kapitalfond Invest: Exciting potential

Den Sociale Kapitalfond Invest sees an exciting potential in Koatek – both commercially and socially:
“Koatek is a leader in its special niche area, and there are very good development opportunities to strengthen the collaboration with current customers and to create selected new customer relationships. Koatek shows that even in a specialized and technology-heavy area, it is possible to combine good business with social responsibility. With our ownership, it is also the plan that we expand Koatek’s social efforts for the benefit of even more people from the margins of the labour market”, says Lars Jannick Johansen, Managing Partner of Den Sociale Kapitalfond Invest, which in the future owns 45 per cent of Koatek.

Room for employees with special needs

Koatek has 75 employees and a strong tradition of hiring, upskilling, and retaining employees with special needs. The ambition over the next 5 years is, among other things, to create approx. 10 new jobs for people from the margins of the labor market and help more young people to get an education in the company – and thus make Koatek an even stronger role model in his field and among the most social companies in Denmark. The parties agree not to disclose the transaction price.
