Gamle Mursten now buys their shares back and SkovsboNygaard ApS, that owns the company behind Gamle Mursten ApS, will now own 100 percent.

The acquisition of the shares is based on the realization of the joint plan, where Den Sociale Kapitalfond has helped to develop the company on the financial and social bottom line.

Gamle Mursten is one of Denmark's leading companies within the recycling of building materials and works purposefully to strengthen both the environmental and social sustainability of society.

”We believe that investmens that contribure to a better and stronger society are good investmens in more than one sense. Gamle Mursten is a good example of a company that has gotten to a point where it can continue its development on its own,” says Thomas Bagge Olsen, leading partner at Den Sociale Kapitalfond.

Gamle Mursten cleans old bricks according to a patented method at its factory in Svendborg. When the bricks are reused for new construction projects, the environment is saved for large amounts of CO2. At the same time, the majority of production employees are marginalized unemployed, including mentally vulnerable people, who at Gamle Mursten are part of a strong working community while developing their skills.

"For Gamle Mursten, the investment has meant that we have been able to prepare the business for an ever greater demand for our bricks. At the same time, we have strengthened the company's efforts for both environmental and social sustainability and created jobs for vulnerable unemployed people. Gamle Mursten and Den Sociale Kapitalfond have had an excellent cooperation, and in accordance with our original agreement, we have now reached a point where we could take the opportunity to continue for our own power," says CEO at Gamle Mursten Claus Juul Nielsen.

Gamle Mursten was founded in the current form in April 2003. In 2009 and again in 2016, the company was appointed to a Gazelle company by Dagbladet Børsen.

Den Sociale Kapitalfond made its investment in Gamle Mursten ApS in 2013. The parties agreed not to reveal the transaction price.
