After being owned by family 50 years, the industrial company Koatek A/S, in Jægerspris, has a new circle of owners. Koatek supplies custom-made, precise components of metal and plastic to Danish and international companies and has approximately 75 employees. The previous main owner Bo Olsen, who took over the company from his father in 1994, has sold 45% of the shares to Den Sociale Kapitalfond Invest. Bo Olsen retains part of his ownership and remains a co-owner, just like production director Thomas Nielsen-Gotsæd. In addition, new chairman of the Board Hans Lohmann joins the ownership circle.

Sales to strengthen and secure the future

With the sale, Bo Olsen wants to implement a generational change that can strengthen and secure the future for Koatek and the values that the family has run the company according to:

“Koatek is undergoing an exciting and positive development, which I would like to strengthen and Den Sociale Kapitalfond Invest and the new Board of Directors can contribute to this. We have had a good and efficient process together, and they have made a good business model, where I can be part of the next part of the journey as well. They are professional people who can ensure continued development of the company together with our skilled employees and management,” says Bo Olsen.

He adds: “At the same time, it means a lot to me that Den Sociale Kapitalfond Invest runs businesses the same way we have always practiced, where we are in close dialogue with our customers, take responsibility in our local community and take well care of our employees.”

Den Sociale Kapitalfond Invest: Exciting potential

Den Sociale Kapitalfond Invest sees an interesting potential in Kotak – commercially and socially: “Koatek is a leading company in its particular area and there are good development opportunities to strengthen the cooperation with current customers and to create new selected costumer relationships. Koatek shows that in a specialized and technology-intensive field, good business can also be combined with social responsibility. With our ownership, we are also planning to expand Koatek's social efforts for the benefit of even more marginalized people”, says Lars Jannick Johansen, managing partner at Den Sociale Kapitalfond Invest, which, going forward, owns 45 percent of Koatek.

Room for employees with special needs

Koatek has 75 employees and a strong tradition of hiring, upskilling and retaining employees with special needs. The ambition over the next 5 years is, among other things, to create about 10 new jobs for marginalized people and help more young people to educate in the company – thus making Koatek an even stronger role model in its field and being among the most social companies in Denmark.
